PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
From sample to production: a practical evaluation checklist
Keep your ingredient evaluation clear, documented and repeatable.

Before requesting a sample, write down the question the trial needs to answer. A specific aim makes the evaluation easier to compare and repeat.
Record the ingredient name, grade, batch reference and accompanying documents. Use a controlled formulation and document processing conditions so the result can be interpreted in context.
Assess the attributes that matter to your brief: taste, appearance, texture and process behaviour. Establish any appropriate stability or preservation studies with qualified specialists.
Before scaling up, confirm the commercial grade, supply terms, packaging, storage instructions and qualification requirements. Retain your trial records so future batches can be evaluated consistently.
These notes support a formulation discussion. Product suitability and any intended claims require application-specific review.
